Mary F. Isaac

Mary F. Isaac, age 101, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 23, 2016, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.

She was born December 23, 1914, in rural Meade County, Kansas, the daughter of John J. and Mary (Friesen) Reimer. As a young girl she attended the McNaulty Grade School in rural Meade County. A lifetime resident of Meade, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade, having been involved as a Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, and assisting with the AWANA; and was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Ladies Sewing Society. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, working puzzles, and traveling with her husband on several traveling tours. In 1980, they served two months in Africa as missionaries.

On September 8, 1932, she married Corneilus K. “Corny” Isaac at Meade. He precedes her in death on May 13, 2006.

Dewayn Isaac of Belleville, Pennsylvania

Ken Isaac of rural Meade, Kansas

Five daughters, Alma Schmidt of Newton, Kansas

Mary Ann Spiva of Jet, Oklahoma

Joan Becker of Upland, California

Betty Friesen of rural Meade, Kansas

Sharon Schell of Lee Summit, Missouri

Two sisters, Katherine Friesen of Meade, Kansas

Eva Rempel of South Hutchinson, Kansas

Twenty grandchildren Fifty-three great-grandchildren

She is preceded in death by her husband; a son John Eldon Isaac; a brother, John F. Reimer; and four sisters, Agnes Classen, Anna Classen, Elizabeth Isaac, and Sara Classen

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Meade.

The family would welcome memorials to the Emmanuel Mennonite Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
