She was the daughter of Guadalupe and Galistra (Pena) Barrera on May 20, 1945 in O’Donnell, Texas.
Maria was an active member of the Church of Christ in Ulysses, Kansas. She loved her church family and being a part of the church. She enjoyed sewing, reading, flowers, and trees. Her greatest joy was her family, she is survived by four children.
She is survived by three sons, Orlando Ortiz, Ulysses, KS., Jesse Ortiz and wife Maria, Conroe, TX., Jamie Ortiz and wife Natasha, Ulysses, KS.; daughter, Diana Hernandez and husband Alejandro, Strong City, KS.; children by heart, Oscar Rivera, Alexis, and Diamyrie Ortiz, all of Ulysses, KS.; sister, Margie Vidalier; eighteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents; children, Annabelle Ortiz, Oscar Ortiz, Olivia Ortiz; grandson, Theremy De La Cerda; siblings, Guadalupe, Martin, Micayla, Ofelia, Chavela, Lina, Maria, Lencha, Juana, Sylveria.
A memorial has been established for Church of Christ of Ulysses. Memorials may be mailed to Robson Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Ulysses, Kansas 67880.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020, 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. and Sunday, October 18, 2020, 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. at Robson Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Ulysses, Kansas.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, October 18, 2020, 6 P.M. at Church of Christ, Ulysses, Kansas.
Funeral Service will be Monday, October 19, 2020, 10 A.M. at Church of Christ, Ulysses, Kansas. Burial will be at Ulysses Cemetery following the funeral service.
