Mannley S. Bromwell

Mannley S. Bromwell, age 85, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 27, 2016, at the Satanta District Hospital Long Term Care Unit, Satanta, Kansas.

He was born November 3, 1930, at Plains, Kansas, the son of Denzil and Edith (Burgett) Bromwell. As a young boy he attended the Plains Grade School and later the Plains High School, graduating in 1949. After his graduation, be began assisting his father in farming. In 1954, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving for two years with a tour in Germany. Upon his discharge, he returned to Plains. On September 22, 1956, he married Lucy Beckman at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Plains. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Plains and in 1958, he began his career with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline. In 1988, after thirty years of service, he retired and continued to farm.

He was a member of the Plains United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed attending rodeos, watching football and basketball games, and spending time with his family and friends.

Lana Jo Winkler of Liberal, Kansas

Mitzi Holland and companion Judd Koehl of Victoria, Texas

Two brothers, John Bromwell of Elkhart, Kansas

Don Bromwell and wife Frankie of Stephenville, Texas

Grandchildren, Erin Paul and husband Stephen; Tyrel Justice and wife Crystal;

Talynn Willis and husband Dallin; Chad Murrell; Jessica Winkler; Dustin Holland;

Daniela Bromwell

Great Grandchildren, Victor, Veronica, Christopher, Dakota, Harley, and Lane Paul

Brylee, Zaylee, and Taylee Justice

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank and Denn; and a sister, Jessie McDermott.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, at the Plains United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Cremation will follow the services on Thursday and a sunrise burial will be held at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at the Plains Cemetery.

The family would welcome memorials to the United Methodist Church of the Satanta Long Term Care Unit in care of the funeral home.
