Mae D. Cotter

Mae D. Cotter, age 69, died Saturday, June 11, 2011 at her home in Elkhart, Kansas. She was born April 1, 1942 in Micawber, Oklahoma the daughter of Alvin M. and Evelyn (Cooper) Wilson Fischer.

Mae graduated from Okemah High School in Okemah, Oklahoma, attended college in Ada, Oklahoma and went to work for Oklahoma Natural Gas. Mae later worked as a Technical Consultant and Auditor for The Corps of Engineers. Mae resided in Las Vegas, Nevada and Conore, Texas until March 2011 when she and her husband moved to Elkhart, Kansas. Mae was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Elkhart, Kansas. Mae was an avid traveler, and enjoyed taking her grandkids on special trips.

Mae married William P. Cotter on October 17, 1964 at Tulsa, Oklahoma. He survives.

Other survivors include one daughter; Rena Witcher and husband Eric of Elkhart, Kansas, three grandchildren; Magen, Marshal and Ella, three brothers; Gene Wilson and wife Phyllis of Perry, Oklahoma, Garry Wilson and wife Barbara of Perry, Oklahoma, and Don Wilson and wife Dena of Carthridge, Texas, one sister; Joan Hatfield and husband Larry of Stillwell, Oklahoma, and her mother; Evelyn Fisher of Stillwell, Oklahoma.

Mae is preceded in death by her father; Alvin Wilson.

Vigil service will be held Monday, June 13, 2011 at 7:00 PM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Elkhart, Kansas. Funeral Mass will be held 9:45 AM Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Father Pascal Klein officiating. Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart, Kansas. Friends may call Monday, June 13, 2011 from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart, Kansas. Memorials may be given to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
