Lynn D. Mangels

Lynn D. Mangels, age 63, of Parker, Colorado and formerly of Ulysses, Kansas died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton, Colorado. He was born August 16, 1949 in Liberal, Kansas, the son of Van Floyd and Lois L. (Melville) Mangels.

Lynn graduated from Rolla High School and Fort Hays State College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He served in the Army, National Guard and Reserves. Lynn married Diane Fleming in 1973 in Kanopolis, Kansas. He farmed with his father and brothers before going to work for Amoco Production Company. Lynn lived in Satanta for two years, moved to Ulysses in 1980, and moved to Houston, Texas in 2000. He retired from BP in 2002 and returned to Ulysses. In 2007, Lynn and Diane moved to Colorado. He was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church, Gideon International, served on the Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital Board, and Rolla School Board.

He is survived by his wife, Diane, of the home; sons, Lane Mangels and wife Liisa of Salina, Kansas, Neal Mangels and wife Leslie of Ulysses, Kansas, Adam Mangels and wife Diana of Parker, Colorado; father, Van F. Mangels, of Liberal, Kansas; brothers, William Mangels and wife Cynthia of San Antonio, Texas, Phillip Mangels of Liberal, Kansas; four grandchildren, Toni and Luke both of Salina, Kansas, Dylan of Ulysses, Kansas, Allison of Parker, Colorado; and one great-granddaughter, Kaylie.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Lois Mangels.

Funeral service will be held Monday, October 15, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the New Life Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Ted Goertzen officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Friends may call Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the Lynn Mangels Scholarship Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
