Lydia Trujillo

Lydia Trujillo, age 70, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita, Kansas. She was born July 11, 1949, in Raymondville, Texas, the daughter of David and Gloria (Gutierrez) Romero.

Lydia grew up in Texas and moved to Ulysses, Kansas, in 1965. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed cleaning and cleaned for Faulkner Real Estate for many years. Lydia took her turn operating El Ranchito Cafe, and also worked at Garcia’s Restaurant and Katie’s Goody Shop. She was active in her church and enjoyed going to the Grant County Senior Center, spending time with her grandchildren and sisters, traveling with her daughter, and caring for her family.

On March 17, 1969, Lydia married Joe Trujillo in Texas, he survives.

Other survivors include, one son; Joe Trujillo of Dallas, Texas, two daughters; Eva Rodriguez and husband Apolonio of Ulysses, Kansas, and Marina Trujillo and husband Jonathan Reyes of Garden City, Kansas, three brothers; Enrique Romero, Leobardo Romero and David Romero, Jr. all of Ulysses, Kansas, six sisters; Raquel Gallegos of Ulysses, Kansas, Maggie Garcia of Ulysses, Kansas, Grace Hernandez of Ulysses, Kansas, Minnie Fischer of Ulysses, Kansas, Norma Pauda of Lakin, Kansas, and Olga Pauda of Ulysses, Kansas, and eight grandchildren.

Lydia is preceded in death by her parents; David and Gloria Romero, and one brother; Juan Romero.

Evening Service will be Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at 7:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, Kansas, with Pastor Rafael Franco officiating. Funeral service will be Thursday, September 26, 2019, at 10:00 AM with Pastor Armando Ortiz officiating at Templo Nueva Vida in Ulysses, Kansas. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Friends may call Wednesday, September 25, 2019, from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the Grant County Senior Center or the American Cancer Society, both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
