Lupe V. Orozco

Lupe V. Orozco, age 71, of Johnson, Kansas, died, September 20, 2023, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born April 14, 1952, in Lamar, Colorado, the daughter of Jose and Agnes (Gonzalez) Tafoya.
Lupe grew up in Fowler and Rocky Ford, Colorado, and graduated from Rocky Ford High School. She married Gonzalo Orozco on March 6, 1974, and moved to Holly, Colorado, 9 years later they moved back to Rocky Ford. A year later they moved to Johnson, Kansas. Lupe worked as a caregiver for Lewis and Vivian Shore for 20 years. She then worked as a paraprofessional at USD #452 Schools for 25 years. She loved her family and all the students that she worked with, was a wonderful cook, enjoyed a good game of cards and enjoyed traveling.
Lupe is survived by her husband, Gonzalo Orozco of Johnson, Kansas; son, Armando Orozco and Marisa Johnson of Hays, Kansas; brothers, Ronnie Tafoya of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rudy Tafoya of Westminster, Colorado, Louis Tafoya of Denver, Colorado, and Patrick Tafoya of Westminster, Colorado; and sisters, Priscilla Pacheco of Pueblo, Colorado, and Cecilia Tafoya of Rocky Ford, Colorado.
Lupe is preceded in death by her parents.
Rosary will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 7:00 PM and Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 10:00 AM, both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Eric Gyamfi officiating. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM and Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Johnson, Kansas, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 605 W. North Ave, Johnson, KS 67855.
