Lucy Roberta Covarrubias, age 79, died Monday, July 24, 2023, at BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.
She was born on June 7, 1944, in La Junta, Colorado, to Isidro Guerrero from San Isidro Guanajuato, Mexico and Ernesta Guerrero from La Junta, Colorado.
Lucy was married in Huntington Beach, California to Andres Covarrubias. He preceded her in death. She was the loving mother of twelve children. Lucy enjoyed family cookouts, listening to her favorite singer, Vicente Fernandez, swing dancing to Spanish music, and watching her favorite boxers, Canelo and Paquiao. She was a huge Denver Bronco fan and loved to travel. Lucy spent her time crocheting gifts for friends and family. Her favorite food was red enchiladas, and strawberry limeade with extra strawberry, and chewing strawberry gum. Lucy loved warm blankets, and painting her nails with her favorite color, red. She had a heart of gold and was loved by many.

She is preceded in death by both parents, Isidro and Ernesta Guerrero, husband, Andres Covarrubias,
two daughters, Josephine Vasquez, Rebecca Rodriguez, and sons,
Bartolo Rodriguez, and Robert Rodriguez.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 28, 2023, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas. Mass will be celebrated by Reverend Augustine Owuso.
A burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery.
