Laura Ann Carter, age 72, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Saturday, February 5, 2022, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born October 26, 1949, in Syracuse, Kansas, the daughter of Paul N. and May (Cott) Graham.

Laura was raised in Manter and attended Manter and Johnson Schools. While in high school, she was a cheerleader and played basketball. She then attended and graduated from the Dodge City Beauty School. Laura married Robert Bruce Carter on February 27, 1971, in Manter at the Manter Methodist Church. Laura worked as a beautician for numerous years in Johnson and Ulysses while she raised her family. She enjoyed attending her kid’s sports and activities. Laura was known for her big heart and rescuing a lot of cats. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, and making candy. Laura was currently working at Lowe’s Market and has spent more than 40 years working in Grocery and Retail.

Laura is survived by her husband, Bruce of the home; sons, Bryan Carter and Tina Rodriguez of Ulysses, and A.J. Carter and wife Stephanie of Ulysses; brother, Kenneth Graham of Manter; sister, Pauline Wilkerson and husband Beauford of Manter; six grandchildren, Kyle, Elizabeth, Rance, Robert, Khole, and Eleanor; and six great-grandchildren, Bennett, Barrett, Elijah, Oliver, Kolson, and Baylor.  

Laura is preceded in death by her parents; son, Robby; brother, Gary Graham; and sisters, Phyllis Batterton and Janice Brickman.

Memorial service will be held Friday, February 11, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Country View Baptist Church in Ulysses with Pastor James Berry officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Laura Ann Carter Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
