Larry Allen Levings

Larry Allen Levings, 70, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away suddenly on March 23, 1019 at his home after a slow steady decline from complications left from contracting West Nile virus six months earlier.

Larry was born March 18, 1949 at Woodward, Oklahoma, the son of William Matthias and Uldene Vivian Cox Levings. He grew up in the Buffalo, Oklahoma area and attended the Buffalo schools. Graduating as a member of the Class of 1967, he went on to achieve the dream of having a college education. He attended Oklahoma Panhandle State College for one semester, then transferring to Northwestern State College at Alva, Oklahoma to further pursue his education. He graduated in 1971 from Alva with a double major in sociology and history.

He met his wife, Nancy Volk at Alva. They were married in 1969 sharing life together for almost fifty years. During that time, Larry worked as a social worker in Kansas and Oklahoma for thirty-one years. He worked in other occupations later in life after retiring out of social work.

The Levings family moved to their home in rural Texas county in 1985. Their children were raised in the country to become independent people with a love of life and love of nature.

Preceding Larry in death were his parents, William Matthias and Uldene Vivian Levings, his siblings, Bulah Walton and James Leo Levings, and various aunts, uncles and cousins.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy and son Matthew of the home; son, Allen Levings and wife Susan of Moore, Oklahoma; daughters, Christina Cornelius and husband, Jimmy of Norman, Oklahoma and Katy Levings of Goodwell, Oklahoma who was caregiver along with Nancy for her father; granddaughters Bailey Hood, Hannah Hood and great granddaughter, Hunter Arnold all of Moore, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Eve and Oliver Roseberry, Jude, Lennon and River Cornelius of Norman, Oklahoma.

Larry was a private person who deeply loved his family. It was a blessing to have him as a husband and a parent.

There will be no services at this time.

Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker, Oklahoma is in charge of arrangements
