Kenneth William Stegman

Kenneth William Stegman, 84, of Liberal, KS passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Catholic Care Center in Wichita, KS.

He was born on February 25, 1939 to W.M. “Vince” and Henrietta (Fredelake) Stegman at Wright, KS.

Kenneth grew up on a farm and helped with the harvest each year. He graduated from Spearville High School in 1957. He went to work as a Lineman and was later promoted to Lineman Foreman for West Plains Energy/Centel/Sunflower Electric/Energy One before taking early retirement. Always keeping busy in his retirement, he took on a position at Dillons assisting customers with their groceries. Kenneth enjoyed woodworking. He loved crafting furniture and wooden toys. He would always remind everyone that it was a hobby not a job. He also enjoyed gardening, taking care of his yard, drinking coffee with the McDonald’s & Braum’s coffee groups, watching football and being with his family. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Liberal.

Kenneth is survived by Two Daughters, Teresa Gorton of Manhatten, KS, Michelle Mahaffey and husband Nathan of Cashion, OK; One Son, Michael Stegman of Liberal, KS; Seven Grandchildren, Steven Gorton, Jordan Stegman, Mariah Stegman, Brandon Kisner-Stegman, Keith Gregg, Justin Mahaffey, and Arica Mahaffey; Five Great Grandchildren, Fidel Rodriguez, AJ Rodriguez, Davion Stegman, Jr. Rodriguez, and Sebastian Roman; Four Brothers, John Stegman and wife Berna Mae of Spearville, KS, Ed Stegman of Wright, KS, Robert Stegman and wife Diane of Overland Park, KS, and Glenn Stegman and wife Carol of Lincoln, KS; One Sister, Susan Barragree and husband Gene of Kansas City, KS; One Brother-in-law, Gerald Stegman of Dodge City, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, One Sister, Jolene Stegman and One Sister-in-law, Karen Stegman.

Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Miller Mortuary.

Rosary Service will be 9:00 am Friday, September 29, 2023 at the St Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal; the Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am.

Urn Burial and Committal will be 3:00 pm Friday, September 29, 2023 at the St. John’s Cemetery in Spearville, KS.
