KSCB News - January 2, 2013 12:00 am

Kenneth Martin Lozar, Sr., age 68, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at his home in Kirbyville, Missouri.  He was born February 11, 1944 in Ulysses, Kansas, the son of Cleo Horse and Leota (Popejoy) Lozar.

Kenneth graduated from Ulysses High School and began working soon after. Kenneth married Judith Ann Downey on February 7, 1964 in Garden City, Kansas. He worked for a construction company which took them to Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and Missouri. Wanting to settle down in a place for their children, they moved back to Kansas where Kenneth worked for a farmer, tending to all aspects of the farm including livestock and crops. He later worked for KDOT as a mechanic on their machinery and trucks.

Seventeen years ago, Kenneth and Judy moved to Missouri. Kenneth loved hunting and fishing and this was a great place to enjoy those activities. He and his fishing dog, Midnight, loved to go fishing together. Upon moving to Missouri, Kenneth worked for B & L doing small engine repair.

Kenneth was a very giving man. He was willing to help anyone with anything and would often help others fix their mowers or mow their yards, just to mention a few. He also enjoyed golfing at Holiday Hills.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Lozar of Kirbyville, Missouri; children, Kenneth Lozar, Jr. of Ulysses, Kansas and Karin Gwin of Quapaw, Oklahoma; sisters, Shirley Wise of Ulysses, Kansas and Cleota Burns of Garden City, Kansas; five grandsons and one great-grandson.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill Lozar; and two sisters, Connie Lawson and Lorraine Simpson.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Kelly Gindlesberger officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, January 4, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W Grant Ave, Ulysses, Kansas.
