Juanita Pearl (Kippes) Sosa

Juanita Pearl (Kippes) Sosa, age 90, formerly of Johnson, Kansas, died Friday, December 25, 2020, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Inman, Kansas.  She was born December 4, 1930, in Johnson, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Pearl (Bitner) Kippes. 

 

Juanita grew up in Johnson and attended Roanoke School in 1935, which was 10 miles south of Johnson. In the spring of 1936, Juanita attended school in the ‘Old Stone School House’. Later, she moved with her family to Colorado, and again to California, eventually returning to Johnson in 1945, where she completed her last three years of High School at Stanton County High School. On August 18, 1948, Juanita married Juan D. “John” Sosa in Ulysses, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 20, 2003. Juanita worked at the Post Office in Johnson for 13 years. She raised her family and enjoyed being a housewife and mother to Jeri and Jon, and worked at Seyb-Tucker True Value, in bookkeeping, for 19 years. Juanita loved her family very much and will be missed dearly by her friends and family.

 

Juanita is survived by her son, Jon Sosa and wife Christina of Hutchinson, Kansas; grandchildren, Joseph Sosa of Hutchinson, Kansas, Kaitlynn Pohl “Sosa” and husband Derrick of Suisan City, California, Jacob Sosa and Kaleb Sosa of Hutchinson, Kansas; great-granddaughter, Alysanne Pohl due in April of 2021; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. 

 

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Duane and Laverne Kippes; sister Lucille Riedel; husband, Juan; and daughter, Jeri Sosa. 

 

Vigil Service and Rosary will be Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 7:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson. A private family Funeral Mass will be Thursday, December 31, 2020, at 10:00 AM. The family would like to invite the public to join them at the Stanton County Cemetery for the interment following with Reverend Aneesh Parappanattu, MSFS officiating. Funeral Mass may be viewed live on Garnand Funeral Home Facebook Page.
