Joyce L. Mingus, age 72, passed away early Monday morning, May 4, 2026, at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.
She was born January 19, 1954, at San Diego, California, the daughter of Gene and Elizabeth L. (Wilson) Hoffman. A longtime resident of Meade, she was a cosmetologist, worked for the Meade District Hospital Home Health and for EMS.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, LWML, and was a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed baking, fishing, quilting, sewing, camping, and spending time with her family and friends.
On June 7, 1986, she married Terry W. Mingus at St. John Lutheran Church in Meade. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Walter Ince and wife Wanda; four daughters, Sara Mingus, Christina Ultreras and husband Mario, Patricia Swaim and husband Stanley, and Joredyn Boxum; her father, Ronald Cordes; two brothers, Gilbert Hoffman and Bill Cordes; two sisters, Sandra Cain and Kimberly Hirsh; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother Betty Cordes and a brother Tanis Cordes.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church, Meade. Interment will follow in the Atwater Cemetery, rural Meade. In accordance to her request, cremation has taken place. Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade has been entrusted with arrangements.
