Johnna Sue Kendall

Joe Denoyer - December 14, 2023 10:56 pm

Johnna Sue Kendall, 59, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023.

She was born April 13, 1964, in St. John, Kansas, the daughter of Wendell Delano and Kitty Lou (Kendall) Brack. She graduated from Liberal High School in 1982 and received an associate’s degree in 1997 from Seward County Community College where she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society.

Johnna was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at 16 and “fought a good fight” until the end. This led her to becoming a respiratory therapist in Fort Worth, Texas and in many locations in Kansas and Missouri. She was previously employed as a cosmetologist and also sold insurance.

Johnna was a member of the Topeka Bible Church, serving in particular by organizing and preparing funeral dinners. She was also leader of the Wellness Warriors Bible study and prayer group and was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered for the Helping Hands Humane Society.

Survivors include her brothers, Mark Brack and Mike Brack, both of Liberal, Kansas; her cousins Keith (Glenda) Brack of Albert, Kansas and Linda Olson of Tyrone, Oklahoma; and her rescue puppies Molly and Penny. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her aunts and uncles Elizabeth Ann Siemers, Furl Smith and Orland (Josephine) Brack.

Johnna enjoyed traveling, crafts, golfing, and spending time with her friends – especially going to the movies. She enjoyed serving in the church. She had a gift for repurposing almost anything. It was in her nature to enjoy life to the fullest, which still brings a smile to her family and many friends.

Johnna was cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a future date in Liberal, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart of America Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2405 Grand Boulevard Suite 520, Kansas City, MO 64108 or Southwest Miracles, PO Box 2707, Liberal, KS 67905-2707.

Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel is assisting the family.
