Jimmie Thaine French, 80, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021, at his residence, Rural Stevens County, Kansas.

He was born to William Thomas “Bud” and Florence (Gooch) French on April 17, 1941, in Stevens County, Kansas.

Jim married Helen Jordan on October 21, 1962 and later divorced. To this union were three children; Jamie Thomas, Karla Beth, Buffie Lynn.

Jim later married Gaye Celeste Ward on April 11, 2012 in Clayton, New Mexico. He and Gaye enjoyed working and spending time together. They worked in their crushing car business. They were best friends and enjoyed their years spent together.

He was very active and enjoyed being busy. Jim loved junking cars and taking them to be crushed, he actually made this his business. He enjoyed hunting birds, gardening, and anything old country music. Jim was always there to lend a helping hand to others. He was a Christian man and was baptized when he was 14 years old.

He is survived by wife, Gaye French, Hugoton, KS.; son, Jamie French and wife Shelly, Hugoton, KS.; three daughters, Susan Butler and husband Bill Fletcher, Tucson, AZ., Karla Beth Cox and husband Bill Turner, Everton, MO., Buffie Lynn Schooley and husband Brian, Hugoton, KS.; step son, Christopher Spiesman, Fritch, TX.; step daughters, Merri Kelley, Chico, CA., Kimberlee Ketcherside and husband Tim, Nampa, ID.; two sisters, Ermale Stuart, Hugoton, KS., Linda Bordeaux, Hugoton, KS.; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, and 8 step great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Theresa Dawn French; sister, Alma French; two brothers, Bob and Jack French.

A memorial has been established for Pheasant Heaven Charities, in care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 17, 2021, 10 AM to 8 PM, Robson Funeral Home, Hugoton.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 18, 2021, 2 PM, First Christian Church, Hugoton, Kansas. Burial to follow at Hugoton Cemetery.

Robson Funeral Home, Hugoton is in charge of arrangements.
