Jeanne K. Hickok, age 95, passed away Tuesday evening, January 31, 2017, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.

She was born January 6, 1922, at Fowler, Kansas, the daughter of James Raymond and Sophie (Berblinger) St. Lawrence.  As a young girl she attended the Fowler school system, graduating from Fowler High School in 1940.  She later attended Dodge City Community College and Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas.  After her graduation, she began teaching in Missler, Kansas, and later at Ulysses, Kansas.

On April 7, 1947, she married Charles E. Hickok at Ulysses, Kansas.  After their marriage the couple made their home in Ulysses for forty years before moving to Fowler in 1987.

She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Altar Society, Lake View Club, Western Prairie Club, and the Grant County Home Products Dinner.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts, jewelry, rock collecting, and square dancing.

She is survived by:
A son,                Charles M. “Mike” Hickok (Kay) of Phoenix, Arizona

Three daughters,        Janice M. Hickok of Tulsa, Oklahoma
Evelyn Annette Fink of Ulysses, Kansas
Linda J. Hickok (Cort) of Belle Plain, Kansas

A granddaughter,        Mickayla Fink

Two brother-in-laws,        Ed Rossillon of Denver, Colorado
Don Hickok of Ulysses, Kansas

A special friend,         May Rosel of Ulysses, Kansas

She is preceded in death by her husband on April 15, 2002; a brother, Mick St. Lawrence; and three sisters, Evelyn Newton, Marilyn Baker, and Maybelle (Connie) Rossillon.

Vigil services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Fowler.  Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017, at the church.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Friday Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, at the Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, Kansas.

The family would welcome memorials to the Fowler Community Fund or the Grant County Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
