James “Bud” Wise

James “Bud” Wise, 75, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022, in Newton, Kansas after a year-long battle with Alzheimer’s.

The son of James Windol and Otehka P. (Caudle) Wise. He was born September 8, 1946, in Ada, Oklahoma.

James “Bud” and Samma Lynn (Comer) were married on May 1, 1969, in Ulysses, Kansas. To this union were two sons James David and Robert Wayne and two daughters Cherie and Shiella. Samma Lynn preceded Bud in death on January 24, 2005.

Later, Bud and Donna Farmer (Chilson) were married on January 17, 2009, in Ulysses. After marrying, they moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma where they lived for several years. They spent the last few years of his life living in Salina, Kansas.

Bud worked for Pioneer Communications of Ulysses for 41 years. During his retirement, he enjoyed singing karaoke, bird watching, fishing, watching, and attending drag racing, and Oklahoma Sooner football.

Survivors include wife Donna Wise, Salina, KS.; two daughters, Cherie Pennington and husband Nathan, Tahlequah, OK., Shiella Vardeman and husband Justin, Blanchard, OK.; two step-sons, Mike Farmer, Salina KS.; Alan Farmer, Salina KS., a brother, Joe Wise, and wife Linda, Ulysses, KS.; a sister, Jerilyn Foncannon Montgomery, TX.; and a sister-in-law Wanita Wise, Ulysses KS.; four grandchildren; Clint Pennington and wife Lyra, Brody Howard, Laynee Herrera and husband Tomas and Aiden Vardeman and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant twin sons James David and Robert Wayne Wise, granddaughter Madison Marie Vardeman, and brothers Eddie Wise and Mike Wise.

A memorial has been established for Alzheimer’s Association. In the care of Robson Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Ulysses, KS. 67880.

The Funeral will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022, at 10 A.M. at the Ulysses Church of Christ. Burial to follow at Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, Kansas.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. at Robson Funeral Home, Ulysses.
