Ivan C. Leis, 95, passed away February 24, 2017, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
 
He was born in Wichita, Kansas, on May 19, 19211, to Andrew and Cecilia Leis.  He married Floydene Barger Husmann of December 26, 1970.  They made their home in Dodge City, Kansas, until 2012 when they moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to be near their daughter and family.
 
He leaves to mourn his wife, Floydene; daughter Cynthia and Leander Lampe (he adopted her on December 15); grandchildren, Dr. JaNae and Todd Clapp, Nicole and Kristen; Dr. Matt and Amy Lampe, Anna and Emma; and a special niece, who was like a daughter to him, Jill and John Leis and family; brother Claude and LaVerne Leis, Fowler, Kansas, Clarence and Betty Leis of Rogers, Arkansas; sister-in-laws, Norma and Dorothy Leis; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, “Sissie.”
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don and Bill; and three sisters, Evelyn, Florence, and Genevieve.
 
Ivan joined the United States Army in 1942, serving in the European Theater.  He was honorably discharged in 1945 having received five campaign battle stars.
 
He was a farmer and grain elevator manager.  Ivan loved golf, music, and dancing.  They spent nineteen years travelling to Arizona where he made three “hole-in-ones” in golf.  He received trophies for these and was very proud of them.  The last year he spent in a long term care facility where he loved to play his harmonica for anyone that asked.
 
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Fowler, Kansas, until 1970 when he moved to Dodge City.  He then became a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Dodge City.  While living in Oklahoma City he attended St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.
 
Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or to Sooner Hospice, 2212 N.W. 50th, Suite 143 C, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73112.
 
Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Fowler.  Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, at the church.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.   Interment will follow the service in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.
