Imogene Gloden Hetzel

Imogene Gloden Hetzel, age 90, formerly of the Yarbrough community, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021, in Andrews, Texas. She was born February 26, 1931, to Bart and Dorothea (Richterberg) Gloden in Texas County, Oklahoma.

On February 26, 1949, Imogene married James Hetzel in Guymon, Oklahoma. After several years they settled on a farm in the Yarbrough Community where they raised their four children; Carolyn, Bobbie, Terry, and Gwen. They lived on the farm until 2014 when they moved to Andrews, Texas, to be close to family.

Imogene loved spending time and vacationing with family and loved ones in Colorado. She had a green thumb and loved to garden, bird watch and was an avid reader.

Survivors include son, Terry Hetzel and wife Cindy of Midland, Texas; three daughters, Carolyn McDaniel of Springdale, Arkansas, Bobbie Sinning and husband, Terry, of Guymon, Oklahoma, and Gwen Burnam and husband Mike of Andrews, Texas; one brother, Bob Gloden and wife LoRee of the Yarbrough community; 8 grandchildren, Misty Thorson, Greg McDaniel, Chad Blackmore, Jana Busey, Cole Hetzel, Carson Burnam, Haley Morgan, and Casey Hetzel, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, Bart and Dorothea Gloden; brothers, Emmerson, Kenneth, and Dean; sister, Maxine Fowler; son-in-law, Jack McDaniel; and grandson, Eric Anderson.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Elkhart, Kansas, with Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 7, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Elkhart City Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch or charity of your choice in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
