Howard G. Frantz, 76, of Balko, Oklahoma passed away October 16, 2016 at Ochiltree General Hospital in Perryton, Texas.

Howard was born January 12, 1940 at the family home near Balko, Oklahoma, the son of R. B. and Louise Neufeld Frantz. He attended grade school to the eighth grade at Bethany, then one year at Balko and finished high school at Corn Bible Academy in Corn, Oklahoma. After graduation he worked at Osborn Lumber in Perryton, Texas.

On July 17, 1959, Howard was united in marriage to Sonja Hamm at the Gospel of Grace Church in Hooker, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Denver, Colorado for three years before moving back to the farm.

Howard worked for twelve years for Texaco Oil Company then went back to farming and ranching. When times got tough on the farm he was asked to return to Texaco and worked another eight years. Upon retiring, in 1984, he returned to full time farming and ranching until his health started to decline.

He was a member of Crossroads Bible Fellowship, was a trustee, sang in the choir and along with Sonja was on the food committee. They were active for many years in the annual MCC auction in Fairview and Enid working in New Years cookie production.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother in law, Leroy Vogt.

Survivors include his wife, Sonja of the home; three sons, Chuck and Myra Joy Frantz of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Craig and Jana Frantz of Balko, Oklahoma, Corey and Kathy Frantz of Balko, Oklahoma; a brother, Orlan and Carolyn Frantz of Perryton, Texas; two sisters, Mildred Vogt of Denver, Colorado, Joyce and Jerry Sawatzky of Perryton, Texas; five grandchildren, Chaslea Jo, Nicole, Kendall, Grady and Cody.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2016 at Crossroads Bible Fellowship at Bryans Corner, Oklahoma with Pastor James Epp officiating. Interment will be in the Balko Mennonite Brethren Cemetery near Bryans Corner directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Ok.
