Harry “Scott” Shrauner

Joe Denoyer - April 19, 2024 4:27 pm

Harry “Scott” Shrauner, 75, of Elkhart, Kansas, passed away on Friday evening, April 5, 2024, at his daughter’s home in Carthage, Texas. Scott was born on December 14, 1948, in Elkhart, Kansas, to the late Floyd and Roberta Shrauner. He was raised in Elkhart and graduated with the class of 1966. He attended Kansas State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics. Scott returned home following college to work with his dad on the family farm.

On November 12, 1976, he married his wife, Lynette Ann Reid, and together they had two children, Reid and Lisa. Work and life took them away from Elkhart in 1989 and Scott worked as a commercial pilot in both rural New Mexico and Durango, Colorado. Scott and Lynette returned home to Elkhart in 1999, where Scott resumed his active role on the farm, raising crops and cattle and breeding horses.

Scott was a member of the Elkhart Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, camping, hunting, attending horse-related events, studying cattle and horse bloodlines, and flying. Until his health chose otherwise, Scott and Reid operated the farm together. Scott passed his love for the farm and his love for animals on to his children and grandchildren.

Scott is survived by his wife, Lynette, of Elkhart, KS; son, Reid Shrauner, and his wife Sarahjessica; and daughter Lisa Darnell and her husband Chad. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Georgia, Max, and Ari Shrauner of Elkhart, KS., and Dylan and Evie Darnell of Carthage, TX.; two sisters, Deanna Crook, Rita Walrod and her husband Phil; brother, Kim Shrauner; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The family would like to extend a thank you to his special caregivers and the loving staff of HeartsWay Hospice, Carthage, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the following, Elkhart Methodist Church, Elkhart High School FFA, or ALS Association, in the care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 606, Elkhart, Kansas 67950.
