Glenn E. Woodruff

Glenn E. Woodruff, age 88, passed away early Sunday morning, December 11, 2022, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.

He was born September 19, 1934, at rural Meade, Kansas, the son of Horace Dale and Clarice Leone (Cook) Woodruff. As a young boy he attended school in Fowler, Kansas, graduating from Fowler High School in 1952. After his graduation, he joined the United States Air Force, serving for four years. Upon his discharge, he returned to Meade County and began his career in farming and ranching. After many years of farming and ranching, he retired and moved into town in 1986. He later began working for National Beef in Liberal, Kansas, until 1999. After working in Liberal, he began working for Meade USD 226, retiring in 2007.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 215 and attended the United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

On October 27, 1957, he married Ruby Ann Depew at Beaver, Oklahoma. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Viola Fowler of Colwich, Kansas, and Rebecca Wineinger and husband Jason of Colwich, Kansas; a daughter-in-law, Mary Woodruff of Castorville, Texas; a brother, Eugene Woodruff and wife Carol on Minneola, Kansas; a sister-in-law Joan Woodruff of Dodge City, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by three sons, Glenn E. Woodruff, Jr., Mitchall Woodruff, and Ray Lynn Woodruff; his parents; two brothers, Dale L. Woodruff and Kenneth Woodruff; and three sisters, Margaret Mundy, Mary Davidson, and Phyllis Vanderpool.

Memorial services will be held on Friday February 3, 2023, at the United Methodist Church, Meade. Cremation has taken place. Interment will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.

In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome memorials to the United Methodist Church in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
