George Clay Tedder

George Clay Tedder, age 83, of Manter, Kansas, died July 31, 2014 at Wichita, Kansas. He was born November 7, 1930 at Forgan, Oklahoma the son of George W. and Belle C. (Hosford) Tedder.

George graduated from Englewood High School, Englewood, Kansas in 1948 and entered into the U.S. Army serving from 1950 – 1952 in Korea and Alaska. He married Muriel Walker on November 22, 1953 at Manter, Kansas. He started out as a Roughneck and worked at Collingwood Grain, Manter Coop, Fowler Equity, L&N Engine, Stanton County Implement, Tedder Machine, Phil Blocker, Inc and Josserand Farms. He enjoyed Fishing, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion 40-8, Moose Lodge and The Johnson Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include two sons George R. (Rod) Tedder and wife Donna of Syracuse, Kansas and Jerry C. Tedder and wife Joetta of Manter, Kansas. Fiance Mary K. Scheer of Manter, Kansas and one sister Bonnie Graham and husband Dorwin of Wichita, Kansas, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents, wife Muriel on April 22, 2000, one brother Lowell B. Tedder and one sister Berleise Withrow.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Manter, Kansas with Pastor Mary Courtney officiating. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson, Kansas with Military Rites by VFW Post#3684 Johnson, Kansas. Friends may call from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Garnand Funeral Home, Johnson, Kansas. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Josephine Goodboo Watson Scholarship Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 715, Johnson, Kansas 67855.
