Genevieve (Jan) Stanley, passed away on September 23, 2023, in Satanta, Kansas.

She was born on December 23, 1928, to George Peterman and Sarah Jane Peterman (nee Wanzer) in Ingersoll, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school, she worked for a year to earn money to go to beauty school. Upon completion of beauty school in Wichita, Kansas, she moved to start working in southwest Kansas. When the opportunity to have a solo shop in the growing town of Satanta, Kansas arose, she jumped at the chance.

In 1954, she met L.F. (Jack) Stanley, and they wed in 1955, going on to have 2 children.

During their 42-year marriage, they went on many traveling adventures and enjoyed entertaining their friends and family.

Her creative endeavors included china painting, decorating, gardening, and cooking.

She enjoyed meeting new friends and connecting with her old friends.

She excelled at propping up her family members and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. She was a constant source of strength and served as an example of resilience and fortitude.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Lewis J. Stanley, and grandson, L. Heath Stanley.

She is survived by her daughter, Sara (Bruce) Desiderio. Two grandsons, Roth and Derek Desiderio. Grandson Eion (Jennifer) Stanley and great-grandsons Gregory and Jack Stanley. Granddaughters Emily and Maria Stanley and grandson Samuel Stanley.

A memorial has been established for the Satanta Long Term Care Unit. In care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 747, Satanta, Kansas 67870.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 2 P.M. at Satanta Baptist Church, Satanta, Kansas. Burial to follow at Dudley Township Cemetery, Satanta, Kansas.

Viewing will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 12 PM to 8 PM at Robson Funeral Home, Satanta, Kansas. The family will be at Robson Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Robson Funeral Home, Satanta is overseeing the arrangements.
