Gary “Red” Grice

Gary “Red” Grice, a loving husband, father, and papa, bid farewell to this world on December 21, 2023. He was born on January 26, 1943, in Amarillo, Texas and was the son of Kermit Ross and Mildred Elizabeth (Booth) Grice. Alongside his beloved parents, Gary was preceded in death by his infant brother Bobby Ross Grice and sister Janice McBee.

From an early age, Gary exhibited a strong work ethic and embarked on a remarkable career journey. He dedicated many years of service to Panhandle Eastern before eventually owning and operating his own contract pumping service for the gas and oil industry. His commitment and expertise were felt throughout the profession.

Gary’s thirst for knowledge led him to pursue higher education at Panhandle A & M College. It was there that he earned degrees in Animal Science and Business Administration, setting the stage for a successful professional path.

Although Gary’s accomplishments were numerous, it was his devotion to his family and friends that truly defined him. He embraced the roles of husband, father, and papa with unwavering love and care. His family brought immeasurable joy to his life, serving as a constant source of inspiration.

When not immersed in work or family life, Gary found solace in his passions outside the realm of everyday routine. The bond between horses fascinated him as he reveled in equestrian pursuits such as team roping alongside his loved ones. A proud grandfather, he adored spending time with his grandchildren and took immense pride in their accomplishments.

To celebrate Gary’s richly lived life, services will take place as follows: On December 26, 2023, a book signing will be held from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Robson Funeral Home – Elkhart located at 120 Grant Street in Elkhart, Kansas. On December 27, 2023, a Funeral Service will be at 2:30 PM at Elkhart Methodist Church situated at 444 Stillman St. A Burial ceremony will follow the service at Elkhart Cemetery located at 801 North St.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret Ann (Boully) Grice, whom he married on July 26, 1969, in Liberal, Kansas. Their union was a shining example of love and dedication. He will also be forever remembered by his son Bobby Grice and wife Tra of Bushland, TX; daughters Julie Parker and husband Chase of Elkhart, KS; Kelli Nix and husband Brandon of Hugoton, KS. Gary’s grandchildren Rylee Coalson and husband Austin of Paxico, KS; Rhett Parker of Elkhart, KS; Coy Nix and Cooper Nix of Hugoton; Samantha (Sami), Ella, Jack Grice all of Bushland, TX hold cherished memories of their beloved papa.

In addition to his immediate family members, Gary leaves behind his brother Larry Grice of Goodwell, OK. Their bond was unbreakable and their adventures together created lasting stories for everyone to cherish.

Gary “Red” Grice left an indelible mark on the hearts and souls of those who had the privilege to know him. His legacy as a devoted family man, hardworking professional, and loyal friend lives on in the memories he created with each person fortunate enough to cross paths with him. He will forever be remembered for his infectious warmth and unwavering love.
