Frank J. Thomas, 88, died Nov. 23, 2011 at Satanta Longterm Care Center in Satanta, KS.

He was born July 12, 1923 in Hamilton Co. KS, the son of Frank & Mary (Boughton) Thomas. He lived in Hamilton Co. and Grand Valley, Colo. before moving to Stevens Co, rural Hugoton, KS in 1940 where he was a lifetime farmer and resident for 69 years before moving to Liberal two years ago. He graduated from Hugoton High School in 1941.

He was a self employed farmer. He was a member of the Bethel Friends Church of Hugoton, KS. He had served for 21 years on school boards in Stevens Co.. He was also active in many agricultural boards and committees. He loved to take summer vacations and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

On October 19, 1942, he married LaVern J. Gregg at Haviland, KS. She survives.

10 Grandchildren Richard Mohr, Michael (Micha) Mohr, Elise (Kirk) Heger, Patti Thomas, Marc Thomas, Amanda Ruth (Jason) Vaughan, René (Ty) Brown, Ricki (Mike) Feight, Duana Tatro and Dustin Thomas.

19 Great Grandchildren Krissa White, Ashlynn Mohr, Caden Mohr, Hannah Thomas, Wade Heger, Marlyn Heger, Carsten Vaughan, Emily Ruth Vaughan, Nathan Brown, Justin Brown, David Brown, Rebekah Brown, Austin Biggerstaff, Kyle Biggerstaff, Laci Biggerstaff, Luke Biggerstaff, Amber Tatro, Gage McGuire and Jocelyn Woerner.

Preceded in death by three brothers Sidney A. Thomas, Russell R. James and Claude T. James, one sister Mary E. Fleming, one Great Granddaughter Bethany Mohr, one Great Grandson Gabriel Vaughan and one Great Great Granddaughter Alexas White.

Funeral Service will be held 10:00 am Saturday at the Liberal Friends Church with Pastors Randy Thornburg and Eric Mason presiding. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery.

Visitation time will be 1-8pm Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel.
