Frances Eilene Coombs

Frances Eilene Coombs, age 89, passed away Thursday evening, September 3, 2020, at her Meade, Kansas, residence.

She was born November 13, 1930, at Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, the daughter of Paul and Sarah Frances (Love) Weaver. As a young girl, she attended school in Cottonwood Falls. She later attended school in Del Norte, Colorado, and received her nurses training, at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. Over the years, she was a schoolteacher and a registered nurse, working in California, Colorado, and Utah.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Liberal, Kansas. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and spending time with her family and friends.

On October 7, 1952, she married Donald James Coombs at Alamosa, Colorado. He precedes her in death on December 25, 2004.

She is survived by four daughters, Kisha Banks, Karen Coombs, Karil Buchanan, and Kathleen Wilcox; twenty grandchildren; and sixty great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband; a son Kenneth Lee Coombs, and a daughter Kay Wonser.

Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2020, with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at the Sanford Cemetery, Sanford, Colorado.

The family would welcome memorials to the Frances Coombs Memorial Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in care of the funeral home.
