Fonda Rose “Tuffy” White

Fonda Rose “Tuffy” White, 83, of Tyrone, Oklahoma passed away at BSA in Amarillo, Texas, June 29, 2021.

Fonda was born October 17, 1937, in Liberal, Kansas, the daughter of Russell Carl and Mildred Alice Capps Starr.

She attended elementary school in Adams, Oklahoma and finished her education in Tyrone, graduating from Tyrone High School with the Class of 1955.

She was united in marriage to William “Bill” White on August 20, 1955 in Heranodo, Mississippi. They made their home in Chicago, Ill until 1958 when they moved to Tyrone, Oklahoma and returned to Chicago for two years before permanently making Tyrone their home.

She worked for Beech Aircraft as an airplane builder and as a dental assistant for Dr. Linda Wolf. She sold Avon for thirty years.

She was a member of the Tyrone United Methodist Church, the Methodist UMW, Garden Flower Club, Beech BEC Club, United Neighbors Club, Tyrone Saddle Club, Tyrone Senior Citizens and was on the Tyrone City Counsel and served as Mayor.

She was always available to be at the grandkid’s programs, sports activities, rodeos, and anything they did. She loved making noodles and cinnamon rolls for all the kids and grandkids and for Tyrone School Sporting events.

Survivors include two sons, Tony White and wife, Debbie of Dill City, Oklahoma, Tommy White and wife, Rhonda of Tyrone, Oklahoma; daughter, Janelle Gardner and husband, Bill of Midland, Texas; sister-in-law Betty Starr of Ft. Collins, Colorado; brother-in-law, Pete Ansley of Adams, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, son, Russell White, granddaughter, Amy Gardner, brothers, Billie Starr and Gary Starr and sister, Beverly Ansley.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2021, at the Tyrone United Methodist Church in Tyrone, Oklahoma. Interment will be in the Tyrone Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma.

Memorial are suggested to the Tyrone Senior Citizens and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.
