Flora Jean Stevens, age 90, passed away on Thursday March 12, 2026, at Satanta Long Term Care Unit in Satanta. She was born September 26, 1935, in Bristow, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ross and Flossie (Giles) Brooks.

Jean grew up in Duncan, Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school. She later furthered her education in Wichita Falls, Texas, on a band scholarship and graduated as a medical secretary. On December 11, 1963, she married Delmer “Luckie” Stevens. In 1978, the couple moved to Ulysses from Scott City. Jean worked at local grocery stores over the years, including Ideal’s, Russ’, Carter’s, and Lowe’s. She also worked as a desk clerk at Peddler’s Inn. Jean loved animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs, fishing, crocheting, writing, and keeping up with friends and family on Facebook. Above all, the greatest joy in her life was the time she spent with her family and friends.

Jean is survived by her children, Garland, Carol Jean, Tina Marie, and Anita and husband, Joel; nine grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Luckie; and son, Sammie.
