Eva F. Rempel

Eva F. Rempel, age 89, passed away early Thursday morning, October 8, 2020, at the Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

She was born April 10, 1931, in rural Meade County, Kansas, the daughter of John J. and Mary (Friesen) Reimer.  As a young girl, she attended the McNaulty Grade School in rural Meade County.  A longtime resident of Meade, she was a homemaker and had worked as a cook for the Lone Tree Lodge and the Meade District Hospital.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, the sewing society, the EHU, sang with the ladies quartet of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church for over forty years, and faithfully decorated the church every Sunday and for special occasions with flowers from her home and garden.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, baking, playing several musical instruments, and hosting gatherings for her family and friends.

On June 8, 1951, she married Herman F. Rempel at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade.  He survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Cindy Dillon and husband Matt of Topeka, Kansas, and Janalee Sue Rempel of Garden City, Kansas; a sister, Katherine Friesen of Meade; four grandchildren, Brandi Osburn and husband Derek of Olathe, Kansas, Nicole Thyfault and husband Dominic of Topeka, Katrina Dillon of Los Angels, California, and Cody Dillon of Topeka, Kansas; and a great-granddaughter, Piper Eva Thyfault of Topeak.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John F. Reimer; and five sisters, Agnes Classen, Mary Isaac, Elizabeth Isaac, Sara Classen, and Anna Classen.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2020, at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade.  Interment will take place prior to the service in the Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Meade.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.

The family would welcome memorials to the Operation Christmas Child or the Emmanuel Mennonite Church in care of the funeral home.
