Euty Farice Bruce, Jr

Euty Farice Bruce, Jr. died of cancer on Feb. 23 at the Good Samaritan Society in Ft. Collins, CO. He was 81.
Farice is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Genie; three daughters, Kae Kerr and her husband Ron of Ft. Collins, Connie Dale of Concord, MA, Pam Payton and her husband Troy of Liberal and son, Doug and his wife, Karen of Houma, LA. He also is survived by 2 sisters, Gwendolyn Webb and Sharon Dent; 2 brothers, James and John; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Glendel, last year.
He was born in Tyrone, OK on July 3, 1931 to Euty Farice Bruce, Sr. and Iris Geraldine (Bowers) Bruce and graduated from Tyrone High School in 1949. In July 1950 he married Emagene Warden of Liberal and served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War. He pursued a 34-year career in the savings and loan business after which he established Bruce and Associates and provided financial services for hundreds of clients until his retirement in 2011. A long-time resident of Liberal, Farice and Genie moved to Ft. Collins in 2003.
The charitable “love of his life” was the Lions Club where for decades he served in many roles including International Director, club president, district governor and council chairman. He earned numerous awards including the club’s highest honor: Ambassador of Good Will.
As a community leader, Farice served the City of Liberal as a school board member, Chamber of Commerce president, city commissioner and mayor. He also was a past chairman of the Hi Plains Diabetic Chapter of the American Diabetes Association and an active member of the Western Avenue Church of Christ.
Visitation will be held at Brenneman Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 28 from 9am to 8pm with the family present from 5 to 7pm to greet friends at 1212 W. 2nd St. in Liberal. Farice will be laid to rest at a graveside service on Friday, March 1 at 11 a.m. at the Restlawn Cemetery. His treasured friend, Glen Walton, will preside.
In lieu of flowers and plants, please send donations in Farice’s name to the fund below. The mission’s many outreach programs include an orphanage in Mexico and a medical clinic in Honduras.
