Esther Rosella Feldman

Joe Denoyer - September 19, 2018 12:26 pm

Esther Rosella Feldman died on September 19, 2018, at the age of 93, at the Lone Tree Retirement Community in Meade, Kansas.
Esther was born August 22, 1925, in Verden, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lottie (Payne) and Leroy Goodson. As a young girl she moved with her family from Oklahoma to Arkansas where she grew up and went to school in the rural community of Herple, near Mountain View.
In the early 1940’s she moved to Wichita, Kansas, to work at Boeing during WWII. Esther often joked that she met Robert Feldman in the fuselage of a B-52 bomber. They were married December 9, 1944, in Wichita and shortly thereafter moved to Meade where they lived out their lives and raised their family. Robert proceeded her in death October 11, 2012. Also proceeding her in death were her parents, her son, Alan Clay Feldman, two brothers, four sisters, and one grandson
Esther will most be remembered for the years she spent as a nurses aide at the Meade District Hospital, a career that spanned over 40 years. Many of those years she also played the role of “farm wife” while she and Bob lived on a farm south of Meade. Upon moving back to town in the 1990’s, she opened Esther’s Antiques in their home on East Carthage.
It was during her years as a business owner that Esther became active in the Meade Chamber of Commerce. She was also an avid golfer and active member of the Meade Country Club, serving as president during the time when the club bought their land and developed it into a grass-greens course in 1990. She was also a devoted member of the First Baptist Church, tirelessly serving in several capacities most memorably as Sunday school teacher, and for many years, kitchen coordinator.
Survivors include one son, Glen David Feldman, and one daughter, Nancy Ohnick both of Meade; four grandchildren, Darla Walker, Jay Dorsey (Crystal), Jana Orth (Mark), and David Feldman (Sharon), seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018, at the First Baptist Church, Meade.  Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Interment will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
Suggested memorials are the First Baptist Church or the Meade District Hospital Memorial Fund.
