Donald Ray Swinney, 85, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020, Great Plains Regional Medical Center, Elk City, OK.
He was born to Alvin and Calvin (Watkins) Swinney on October 7 1935, McKnight, TX.
Donald and Connie were married December 25, 1955 at First Church of God, Hugoton, KS. To this union were four children; Donald Kent, Brian Dale, Karlese Diane, and Craig Jason.
He was a loved man from everyone from his wife, kids, and grandchildren. His hobbies included; hunting, fishing, farming, and golfing. Donald farmed and ranched for most of his life and enjoyed his trade. He was a past School Board Member of the USD#217 at Rolla and Morton County Fair Board. Donald was in the Army for two years. He was a Boy Scout Leader for many years. Donald was Kansas County Highway Supervisor of the Year in 1999. He worked for Morton County Road Department for 21 years.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Yuvone (Simmons) Swinney, Elk City, OK.; three sons, Donald Kent Swinney and wife Carol, Gentry AR., Brian Dale Swinney and wife Kristi, Van Alstyne, TX., Craig Jason Swinney and wife Amber, Hugoton, KS.; daughters, Karlese Diane Ellison and husband Tim, Elk City, OK.; brother, Bob Swinney, Odessa, TX.; in-law’s, Carol Swinney, Hugoton, KS., Glen Hall, Sulphur Springs, TX.; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Hall; brothers, Wendell and Ronnie Swinney; sister-in-law, Melanie Swinney; grandchildren, Colby and Hunter; nephew, Dustin Swinney; son-in-law, Jon Butler.
A memorial has been established for the First Church of God, Hugoton. Memorials may be mailed to Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.
Friends may call Monday, December 28, 2020, 10 A.M. to 6 P.M. at Robson Funeral Home, Hugoton.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2020, 2 P.M. at First Church of God, Hugoton, KS.
Robson Funeral Home, Hugoton is in charge of arrangements.
