Donald Gene “Don” French

Donald Gene “Don” French , 89, died Wed., February 1, 2012, at St. Francis Health System, Tulsa, OK.

He was born February 28, 1922 at Tyrone, Oklahoma to Jesse and Dora (Mitchell) French.

He attended Liberal High School and then served in the United States Navy during WWII in 1942-43 on the USS Laube. He was Seaman Second Class at the time of his honorable discharge.

On November 4, 1944, he married Eva Wiggians at Hooker, OK. She preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 2010.

Don and ran the Meadow Gold Dairy in Liberal for 18 years, then rented travel trailers for 20 years and was a landlord the last 20 years of his life.

He was a member of the Western Avenue Church of Christ where he has served as a deacon. He had lived in Liberal, Kansas and Stevens County, Oklahoma until his move to be near his daughter in Grove, OK 3 ½ years ago.

He is survived by

1 Daughter- Joan Ramsey and husband Chris of Grove, OK

1 Brother- Wilber French and wife Marilyn of Plains, KS

7 Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded death by 1 Son- Leo Jerome “L.J.” , 2 Daughters- Annette Marie and Rena Kay, and 1 Brother- Melvin French.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am Monday, Feb. 6 th at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with Ron Davis presiding. Burial will follow at Hooker Cemetery, Hooker, OK.

Visitation will be 1 – 5 pm Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 2 – 4 pm at Brenneman Funeral Home.
