Donald Eugene “Don” Brown

Donald Eugene Brown, “Don”, born Oct. 6, 1947, in Tucumcari, NM, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at his home, in Liberal, with his family, at his side. Our hearts are broken for our incredible loss, but we rejoice that he is now with the Lord. Don was preceded in death by his father, Gene Brown, and mother, Charlene Grau. Don was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed. Don was a Vietnam Veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy, on River Patrol Boats, during 2 tours of duty. Don and his wife Martha moved to Liberal in 1980, where he went to work for Art’s Well Service. Later he worked for Baker Oil Tools, then became an oil field consultant for various companies; the last, being Zenergy. Don was an active member of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church. Don is remembered as a kind and giving man. We will miss Don’s kind blue eyes, big smile and even bigger heart. Surviving Don are his son Zach Brown and wife Cristina of Morgantown, WV; daughter Hillary Anderson and husband Jay of Liberal, KS; brother Garry Brown and wife Frances of Yukon, OK; two sisters, Sharon Sanders and husband Red of Albuquerque, NM; Judy Redmond of Hooker, OK. Don is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces, and also by the light of his eyes, his granddaughter, Lyla Anderson.

Visitation Time will be 2:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, and 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday. The family will receive friends on Monday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Liberal, with Pastor Wyatt Carpenter will officiate, assisted by Garry Brown, Baptist minister. Burial, with U. S. Navy Military Honors, will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the church he loved, Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church, or St. Catherine’s Hospice, and may be sent in care of Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd St., Liberal, KS 67901.
