Joe Denoyer - January 28, 2024 2:42 pm

Danny Harris, age 72, passed away surrounded by his family praying hand-in-hand on Thursday, January 25th at Hutchison Regional Medical Center in Hutchison, Kansas.

Danny was born on August 19th, 1951, at Dodge City, Kansas to G.W. “Bill” Harris and Joan (Middleswart) Harris.

Dan was raised in Fowler, Kansas where he attended Fowler Schools, graduating in 1969. After graduating, he attended Garden City Community College where he played football and ran the 300 meter high hurdles. He went on to finish his 4 year degree, in finance, at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC), in Greeley, where he also played football. After graduation, he returned to the family farm where he made his livelihood as a farmer/rancher.

While in Colorado, he developed a love for snow-skiing & also met the love of his life, Brenda, on the ski slopes. Throughout their 45 years of marriage, they were blessed with 5 children and 8 grandchildren.

As a quiet, reserved, and well-respected man, he portrayed many valuable characteristics. Not only was Dan a best friend, husband, father, and Papa, but also a great example of a kind, loving, humble, giving and hardworking man- with strength and courage beyond measure.

He was actively involved in the community as he served on multiple committees such as the Farm Bureau board, Crooked Creek Township, Knights of Columbus, school board, and parish council.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Harris; sons, Garrett Harris and Jessica Spagner (Fowler, KS); Grant and Tia Harris (Fowler, KS); Jared and Aleesa Harris (Olathe, KS). Daughters, Briana and Colt Allison (Hobart, OK), Kristin and Austin Ellis (Mutual, OK). Grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Paige & Kolby Stein, Kale & Molly Harris, Jaxon and Tyson Allison, Brooklyn, Jovi, & Autumn Ellis. Parents, Bill & Joan Harris (Fowler, KS), sisters Dana Wurdeman and DeAnn Eddy, and brother Dave Harris.

Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Fowler, Kansas. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the church. Interment will follow in the Fowler Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
