Cletus Arthur “Clete” Kappelmann

Cletus Arthur "Clete" Kappelmann, 83, Augusta, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013. Viewing 1-5 pm Thursday at Headley Funeral Chapel. Rosary 7 pm Thursday and Mass 10 am Friday, June 7, 2013, both at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery . Cletus was born in Concordia, Missouri on February 26, 1930, to the late Ella (Lohman) and Elmer Kappelmann. Cletus graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree. He owned Cooper Drug Store from 1956 to 2005 where he continued to serve his customers after his retirement. On June 26, 1965 in Stillwater, Oklahoma he married Phyllis (Schroeder) Kappelmann, who preceded him in death on November 1, 1995. Cletus had many hobbies before his family became his total devotion. He is survived by sons Brock Kappelmann and wife Ashley and their children Brady, Brooks, and Bren of Liberal; Brett Kappelmann and wife Bridget and their children Joseph, Gabriel, Max, and Samuel of Augusta; Todd Kappelmann and wife Sarah of Olathe; daughter, Kara Miller and husband Andy and their children Ella and Ruby of Austin, TX; brother-in-law George Frerking of Grandview, MO; He was preceded in death by his son Craig Arthur; sisters, Beatrice Kessner and husband Clyde, and Iola Mae Frerking. Memorial donations to St. James Catholic Church.
