Charlotte Dunn

Charlotte Marie Dunn, 87, of Hooker, OK passed away March 17, 2016 at her home.

Charlotte was born July 12, 1928 in Bells, Texas, the daughter of Norban Jones and Edith Katherine Ball Wood. She attended school in Bells and high school in Grant, Oklahoma graduating from Grant High School. In 1956 she attended Southeastern Oklahoma College in Durant, Oklahoma graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

In 1960 the family moved to Hooker, Oklahoma where she began teaching at Hooker Elementary School. She taught first and fourth grades retiring in 1985.

Charlotte was united in marriage to Thomas Dunn on June 28, 1967. They made Hooker their home.

She enjoyed traveling. She and Tom owned race horses and enjoyed going to races in Nebraska, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Colorado. She loved flowers and visiting her family where ever they lived. In her later years she would go on her motorized chair because she just liked to go.

She was a member of the Baptist Church, Oklahoma Retired Educators Association and the Oklahoma Educators Association.

She is preceded in death by her son, David Corley, sister, Elise Wood and three grandchildren, Julie Hernandez, John Johnson and Timmy Dunn.

She is survived by her husband, Tom of the home; one son, Tommy Dunn of Hooker, Oklahoma; three daughters, Diana Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Charlotte and Michael Johnson of Plains, Kansas, Linda and Danny Flageolle of Cabool, Missouri; one brother, Norman and Jeannie Wood of Sugarland, Texas; one sister, LaWanda and E.J. Carter of Arp, Texas; ten grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Hooker Church of Christ with Lance Morresett officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery with Rev. Norman Wood officiating. Arrangements are directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma.

Memorials are suggested to the Susan G. Komen for breast cancer research and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.
