Charlie Tucker

Joe Denoyer - February 12, 2023 7:43 pm

Charlie Tucker, 71, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away February 8, 2023, in rural Texas County, Oklahoma.
Charlie was born July 23, 1951, in Greensburg, Kansas, the son of Betty Martin Tucker and was raised by his mother and stepdad Robert Thompkins.
Following high school in 1969, Charlie enlisted in the United States Army; the majority of his time in the armed forces were spent overseas in Belgium and Germany.
He was united in marriage to Carol Toole on July 5, 1974, and they have three children, Scotty Lue and Charlie Jr. (Max) and Ricky adopted in September 2022.
After moving to Guymon as an employee of Robert Carter Chevrolet in 1983, Charlie and family relocated to the Hooker community as owners of Tucker Ford in 1992 and later to Sawyer, Kansas, as owners of the local grocery store.
Following the birth of Ricky in 2006, Charlie and Carol returned to Hooker, and Charlie was employed as a nurse aide at Wheatridge in Liberal, Kansas, before pursuing nursing, and finally working in health care as an aide for local resident Gene Weber.
Seven years ago, his love of firearms inspired him to open White Eagle Guns, which expanded in 2020. Charlie also enjoyed anything vintage including cars, guns, glass, and signs, avidly collecting each.
While Charlie was opinionated and fair to a fault, he had a heart for giving to anyone who needed it. As a member of Sunset Lane Baptist Church in Guymon, Charlie loved to cook and volunteered in that capacity for Falls Creek youth church camp and the Hope Crisis Pregnancy Center fundraising dinner for many years. Because Charlie cared so much about the church’s youth, he assisted Carol as the Royal Ambassadors leader and helped kids build Pinewood Derby cars and wooden toys to be donated to Toys for Tots program. He believed that youth are our future and knew it was important to invest in those kids.
Whether acquaintances loved him or not, they always knew where they stood with him. He taught his kids that no matter who it is, the same rules should apply to anyone. He was the best person to ask advise on any type of remodeling projects or business adventures.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Tucker and Bob Thompkins; sister, Connie Tucker; and father-in- law and mother-in-law, Sam and Doris Toole.
Charlie is survived by his wife Carol Toole Tucker of Hooker, son Charlie Tucker, Jr. (Max) and wife Shannon of Natchitoches, Louisiana, daughter Scotty King and husband Chris of Beaver, son Ricky of the home as well as brother Terry Tucker and former wife Laura of Albuquerque, New Mexico and sister-in-law Debbie Goldsberry and Don of Nashville, Illinois. His grandchildren include Kimberly Tucker, Katie King, Ashton Harrison, Avery Harrison, Kiersten King, Kylee King, and Ella Harrison along with multiple special cousins and many loyal gun lovers and friends.
Memorial services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Sunset Lane Baptist Church in Guymon, Oklahoma with Pastors David Moore and Josh Henson.
The family suggests memorials to Beaver or Hooker FFA Chapters and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745 Hooker, OK 73945
