Bill D. Wilkerson, age 77, of Johnson, Kansas died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born December 13, 1934 in Stanton County , Kansas , the son of Charles C. and Nellie (Von Hemel) Wilkerson.

Bill was a lifetime resident and farmer of Stanton County . He was a manager for Collingwood Grain for a number of years. He married Betty Young on December 24, 1953 in Lawton , Oklahoma . Bill was a former member of the Johnson United Methodist Church and a current member and trustee of Manter United Methodist Church . Bill served on the school board for Manter and Stanton County Schools , was a member of Kansas Wheat Growers Association, and vice president the first three years of the American Agriculture Movement. Bill bred and raised bulldogs, and enjoyed supporting his grandkids in all their endeavors.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of Johnson, Kansas; three daughters, Marlene Schroeder and husband Dave of Buhler, Kansas; Karen Wilkerson of Ulysses, Kansas, Trish Morris and husband Larry of Johnson, Kansas; two brothers, Beauford “Tube” Wilkerson and wife Pauline, Robert “Bob” Wilkerson and wife Linda all of Manter, Kansas; two sisters, Eva “Babe” Klingenberg of Manter, Kansas, Bonnie Manning and husband Bill of Garden City, Kansas; sister-in-law, Donice Wilkerson of Johnson, Kansas; five grandchildren, Jeff Schroeder and wife Samantha of Sedan, Kansas, Michelle Morris and fiancé Doug Moneymaker of Fritch, Texas, Rachael Morris of Alva, Oklahoma, Matt Morris and fiancé Leeann Smith of Ulysses, Kansas, Chris Schroeder of Buhler, Kansas; and one great grand child, Tanner Ray Morris.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alvin “Bud” Wilkerson; and brother-in-law, Duane Klingenberg.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson , Kansas with Reverend Don Hasty and Pastor Will Kenyon officiating. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson , Kansas . Friends may call Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson. Memorial contributions may be given to Manter United Methodist Church or a local charity of donor’s choice in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 715 , Johnson , Kansas 67855 .
