Betty A. Garinger, age 80, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 5, 2023, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.

She was born Jun 1, 1943, at Aline, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lindley Hill and Zoa Edith (Martin) Kirkendall. As a young girl, she attended school in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma, graduating from Cleo Springs High School in 1961. She later attended Northwest Oklahoma State University, Alva, Oklahoma, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in 1970. A longtime resident of Kismet, she was a schoolteacher for twenty-nine years.

She was a member of the Kismet United Methodist Church and the KNEA. She enjoyed crocheting, raising farm animals, show horses, exotic animals, and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On March 6, 1965, she married Terry Garinger at Alva, Oklahoma. He precedes her in death on October 16, 2006.

She is survived by her children, John Garinger and wife Jill of Liberal, Kansas, and Teresa Louderback and husband Jeff of Liberal; four grandchildren, Shelby Winkler and husband David, Lindsay Garinger and Tucker Heaton, Whitney Blevins and husband Dustin, and Colton Louderback; six grandchildren, Maci Winkler, Haisley Blevins, Kashlyn Blevins, Audrey Heaton, Stratton Winkler, and Adlee Heaton; Sister, Carolyn Dietz and husband Mickey of Cleo Springs, Oklahoma; brother and sister-in-laws, John Garinger of Freedom, Oklahoma, Jerry Garinger of Alva, Oklahoma, Carl and Carol Bottoms of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Lydia Kirkdedall of Kingfisher, Oklahoma.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Robert, Charles, and David Kirkendall; and sisters, Virginia Phillips and Mary Spence.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Kismet United Methodist Church with the Reverend Terry Mayhew presiding. Interment will follow in the Kismet Cemetery.

The family would welcome memorials to the Lone Tree Retirement Center in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
