Bernhard D. (Ben) Reimer, age 93, passed away early Thursday morning, June 16, 2022, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.

He was born March 16, 1929, at Meade, Kansas, the son of Klaas H. and Helena (Doerksen) Reimer. As a young boy he attended school at the McNaulty Country School. After his schooling, he began his career in farming. During World War II he served his 1 W service in Topeka, Kansas for two years. After his service, he returned to Meade and continued farming and over the road trucking.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed working, reading, and spending time with his family and friends.

On May 17, 1956, he married Annie L. Thiessen at Rosenort, Manitoba, Canada. She precedes him in death on August 7, 2004.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce Reimer and wife Leona of Fowler, Kansas, and Doyle Reimer of Collinsville, Oklahoma; a daughter, Ethel Reimer and husband Leon of Meade; a brother, John D. Reimer of Meade; three grandchildren, Jeremy Reimer and wife Kelly, Travis Reimer, and Tyler Reimer; three step-grandchildren, Dan Pfanenstiel and wife Alice, Tressa DeLatorre and husband Jorge, and Sherri Bartel and husband Bill; two great-grandchildren, Kolbie Reimer and Martha Reimer; seven step-great-grandchildren; several step-great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, Henry D. Reimer and George D. Reimer; and a sister, Helen R. Bartel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday June 22, 2022, at the Church of the Nazarene, Meade. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday with family present from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Meade.

The family would welcome memorials to Love Meade or the Second Commandment Fund in care of the funeral home.
