Benancio Gonzalez Perez, age 65, died on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at his residence in Liberal, Kansas.

He was born on May 18, 1960, in Bocoyna, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Fernando Gonzalez Catarino and Candelaria Perez Casavantes.

Benancio worked as an equipment operator for J & R Contractors. He liked horses, playing chess, family gatherings, listening to music, playing pool, and he loved helping people out. Benancio will be remembered by his friends for many years to come.

He is survived by his brother Angel Gonzalez,

friends, Liz Alvarado, Erik Velazquez,

Omar Velazquez,

Daniel Velazquez,

Mariano Velazquez, and

Cecilia Velazquez.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fernando Gonzalez Catarino and Candelaria Perez Casavantes.

Rosary will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 27, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas.

Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 27, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Reverend Charles Sewert will be celebrating.

A burial will take place at a later date in El Paso, Texas.
