Armando I. Gonzalez

Armando I. Gonzalez, age 60, passed away early Thursday morning, April 15, 2021, at the Minneola District Hospital, Minneola, Kansas.

He was born April 17, 1960, at Lordsburg, New Mexico, the son of Deciderio and Elvira (Iturate) Gonzalez.  As a young boy he attended school in San Simon, Arizona.  He later attended York College, and later Abilene Christian University and Sunset International Biblical Institute, receiving his master degree in bible studies.  A resident of Meade, Kansas, since 2015, he was currently the minister of the Church of Christ.

He was a member of the Church of Christ; served on the Meade City Council; was an interpreter for the Meade County and City Courts; served as a community service coordinator for the Meade City and County courts; and served as an official for football, basketball, and volleyball.  He enjoyed studying the bible, camping, watching westerns, sports, coaching football, basketball, volleyball, and baseball, and was especially fond of mowing.

On June 6, 1992, he married Cheryl Sieh.  She precedes him in death in 2012.  On June 24, 2016, he married Lynnette A. Shields at York College in York, Nebraska.  She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Elizabeth Gonzalez of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Elijah Gonzalez of Norfolk, Nebraska; two brothers, Angel and Hector Gonzalez; and two sisters, Yoland Gregonis and Consuelo Ayers.

He is preceded in death by his wife Cheryl; his parents; and two brothers, Deciderio and Jesse Gonzalez.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Church of Christ, Meade.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at the Knollcrest Cemetery, Naper, Nebraska.

The family would welcome memorials to the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home in care of Thom Moore in care of the funeral home.
