Archie Leon McCoy

Archie Leon McCoy, age 73, of Elkhart, Kansas died March 25, 2012 at his home in Elkhart, Kansas. He was born September 9, 1938 in Lindsay, Oklahoma the son of Archie and Lucille (Dodd) McCoy.

Archie grew up and attended school at Lindsay. He lived in Elkhart from 1998 – 2009, moved to Guymon, Oklahoma; and then back to Elkhart in September. Archie worked at the Guymon Hospital for nine years, five years at the Quality Dry Cleaners in Guymon, and also painted houses. Archie married Mabel Dalene Riley on November 1, 1985 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Archie loved to watch John Wayne movies. He also loved county music and to dance. His biggest pride in the world was his great grandkids. There was never a day that went by that he didn’t talk about them. He was a husband, best friend, father, and a grandpa. All of these things he was the best at being. No matter what life threw at him he always made the best of everything. He would find a way to make you laugh.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Dalene McCoy of Elkhart, Kansas; mother-in-law, Bea Riley (Bell) of Elkhart, Kansas; son, Troy McCoy and fiancée Juanita; their children, Payton, Faith, Carl, Christopher of Elkhart, Kansas; step son Eddie and wife Rebecca Owens; sons, Johnathon, and Daniel of Gillette, Wyoming; daughter, Stacie Shrout and husband Kenneth of Clinton, Missouri; their children, Errin, Nick, Kelsey of Guymon, Oklahoma; two great grandchildren of Guymon, Oklahoma; siblings, Sharon and Kenny Bridal of Woodward, Oklahoma, Louis McCoy of Lake Texhoma, Oklahoma, Red and Pat McCoy of Purcell, Oklahoma, Mabel Esting of McPherson, Kansas, Bonnie McCoy of Pryor, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Archie is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Graveside memorial service will be held Friday, March 30, 2012 at 4:00 PM at the Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart, Kansas with Reverend Gary Murrell officiating. Memorials may be given to Archie McCoy Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
