Amanda Tynae Wallace-Murphy

Amanda Tynae Wallace-Murphy was born December 29, 1983, at Southeast Colorado Hospital in Springfield, Colo., to Nancy Kletecka and David Graves.

She passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 23, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kan.

Amanda attended elementary schools in Springfield, Colo., Guymon, Okla., and Hooker, Okla. She graduated from the Oklahoma School of Science and Math high school in Oklahoma City, Okla., with the class of 2002. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., with honors and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 2006. President George T. Bush was the guest speaker at her commencement. She attended Oklahoma State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Stillwater, Okla., for three years.

Amanda married Ben Murphy June 19, 2012, in Yale, Okla. Ben’s daughter, Kiana Murphy, was their flower girl. The couple had three more children together: Connor, Daegan and Eamon. The family made their home in Yale until 2020, when the family moved to Hooker, Okla.

While living in Yale, Amanda worked as a teacher at a pre-school in Stillwater, Okla. After moving to Hooker, Okla., Amanda obtained her insurance license and secured a position with Brown’s Insurance Agency in Guymon, Okla. At the time of her passing, Amanda was working with her mom, Nancy, at the Ulysses News as their Bookkeeper, graphic designer, and Marketing Representative. She was also working part time at Living With Laine in Guymon, Okla., as a bookkeeper.

Amanda was a founding member and past president of True Blue OHCE (Oklahoma Home and Community Education). She was past president for the Texas County OHCE.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hooker, Okla., where she was a Sunday school teacher and assisted each year with Vacation Bible School.

In her spare time, Amanda loved doing craft projects, reading, listening to crime and other podcasts, and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Norval Wallace. Amanda had her last name legally changed to Wallace after turning 18 to honor her grandfather. She was also preceded in death by her great uncle, Alan Garey, who taught her the art of rubber band fighting; and her father, Michael Kletecka, who adopted her and her sisters in 2020.

Survivors include her husband, Ben Murphy, of the home; sons: Connor, Daegan and Eamon Murphy; and step-daughter Kiana Murphy, all of the family home; mother, Nancy Kletecka, Hooker, Okla.; sisters: Ashley and husband, Derrik Daugherty, Hooker, Okla.; and Samantha and fiancé Daniel Lee, Amarillo, Texas; half-brothers: Joshua and Leah Blevins, Foley, Mo.; and David Graves Junior, of Missouri; brother-in-laws: Zach and Alyssa Murphy, of Germany, Amos and Ann Doreen “Aoko” Murphy, of Germany, and Stephen and Rebecca Murphy, Terre Haute, Ind.; nieces: Dallas Sherman, Wichita, Kan., Cadence Sherman, Amarillo, Texas, Dakota, Lily, and Zoe Blevins, of Foley, Mo., Mara and Cara Murphy, both of Terre Haute, Ind., and Selima and Elisha Murphy, both of Belleville, Ill.; nephews: Thomas Benear, Amarillo, Texas, Justin, Wallace and Dylan Daugherty, all of Hooker, Okla.; and Jacob and Luke Blevins, Foley, Mo.

A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m., Monday, March 2, at First Baptist Church in Hooker, Okla., with Pastor Mike Reynolds officiating. There will be no burial as cremation will take place.

Memorials are suggested to either the First Baptist Church in Hooker, Okla., or to the family for her children’s education.
