Burlington – Donald Ward Adams, 86, went home peacefully to be with his Lord on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Hospice Home in Burlington, NC. He was born in Hooker, OK, on November 30, 1936. His parents were the late Joe J. Adams, Essie Burns Adams, and Nancy Adams, and he was the husband of the late Carol Wulfemeyer Adams. Don was also predeceased by his toddler son, Anthony Brent, and infant grandson, Jonathan.

As a faithful husband and father, who overcame many obstacles in his life, Don and Carol raised their family in Ulysses, KS. Don was a printer, by trade, including work at the Ulysses News, and finished his career with 20 years as a Gasoline Plant Operator for Amoco.

Don is survived by his three remaining sons: Michael (Kathleen) Adams of Whitsett, NC; Gregory (Deborah) of Stillwater, OK; and Stephen (Danita) of Rolla, KS, fifteen (15) grandchildren and four (4) great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear friend, Virginia McPike, and many others who lovingly referred to him as Dad or Grandpa.

After Carol’s passing, Don moved to Burlington, North Carolina in 2011. He was a Holiday Cedar Ridge independent living resident and shared his love for Jesus with the staff and fellow residents through his friendship, singing, and service. He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church and served in the Celebrate Recovery and Food Pantry ministries. He was also a member of the Gideons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harvest Baptist Church Bread of Life Food Pantry, 3741 S. Church St, Burlington, NC 27215.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Hugoton Cemetery, with Pastor Tim Singer presiding over the service.

Robson Funeral Home of Hugoton oversees the arrangements for laying Don to rest.
