Middle School Results

Brock Kappelmann - December 2, 2020 1:28 pm

Last night at Seymour Rogers Middle School the EMS Warriors Wrestling team took on the Dodge Cities in MSWAC competition. The Warriors had the Coyotes first and took advantage of some key Coyote mistakes to get 10 pins helping them cruise to a 61-15 victory.

The Warriors then took on the DCMS Cardinals and dropped the match 65-21 as the Cardinals out pinned the warriors. Easton Cooley had himself a day collecting a 1st and 3rd period pin against the dodges. Skyler hubbard got himself a victory as well. And Julian Orrantia got his first pin of the season as well!

The Warriors are back at SRMS next Tuesday for the Liberal Rumble which will be live streamed by USD480!

From Coach Torres –

In the first dual between Dodge City Middle School the final score was 19-82. I know the score does not reflect the effort but these wrestlers are working hard and they are in some close matches but just not going our way at the end.
In our second dual between Dodge City Comanche the final score was 57-30. In this dual we came out with a win as a team. I feel like we competed much better in this dual. We had a few guys step and got some big wins for us.
7A  from Coach Shuck –

The Apaches started strong against Dodge scoring a quick 8 points then failing to score in the 2nd quarter. The Apaches rallied late and went on a scoring run but it was too late, DCMS 26 and SRMS 17.

Both teams moved the ball very quickly down the court for both teams to start the game and once the nerves went away Guymon was able to capitalize off some bad passes and full court offense. The Apaches fought hard but had a hard time stopping the range shooting game of Guymon that saw multiple girls hit from the deep range. The final was Guymon 41 SRMS 12
7B from Coach Sill –

7th grade B team played Monday night against Dodge City at home and Tuesday night in Guymon. Even with coming off a break and all the challenges going on outside of a normal basketball season, the girls really started looking like a team. They had good chemistry on the court and we’re really starting to see the growth in many of them. Jovanna Raigoza was the leading scorer on Monday night and Maya Lopez had eight rebounds on Tuesday.
