7th grade from Coach Kelley –

The Lady Apaches played their last home game of the season last night
against Guymon Oklahoma. Both A and B teams played with a lot of heart and
hustle last night. but Guymon would take both A and B matches 2-0. I was
extremely proud of the fight and heart both teams showed last night. I am
excited to carry that performance over into the conference tournament. The
Lady Apaches will play their final games Saturday October 9th at the
conference tournament in Garden City.

From Coach Lobmeyer –

Seymour Rogers Cross Country team travelled to Dodge City, and what a warm
day to run. While we did not bring home any medals several athletes ran a
new personal record.

Starting with the 7th grade Apache girls Yvanna Rivera has set her new
record at 8:32, coming in at 22nd place. Jessica Pando came in just 3
places behind at 25th place with a time of 9:02. With one more race to go
Jessica is happy with improving her time over 2 minutes faster from her
first race at Arkalon. Alea Diaz brought in the ladies in 30th place with a
time of 10:35.

All three ladies claimed Dodge for their personal best record times.

Ruben Martinez led the 7th grade Apache boys in 20th place at a time of
6:36, beating his record from Garden City by one second. A minute later at
7:23 Cain Ortiz took 47th place beating teammate Marco Rivera who came in
twenty seconds later at 7:43 and 56th place. Sliding across the finish
barely under 8 minutes was Benjamyn Brockett at 7:59 in 62nd place. Ayden
Benya wrapped up his team in 68th place and a time of 8:47. Jose Escabar
was missed today. Ruben, Cain, Benjamyn, and Ayden all set personal bests
today.

As our only 8th grade Apache lady, Gennises Leyva continues to improve and
finished stronger that ever and taking over a minute off her time. She took
15th place with a time of 16:02.

Closing out the day we’re out two 8th grade Apache men, Zahir Ortiz and
Joshua Talley. Zahir came in 20th place with a time of 14:04. Joshua Talley
set his personal best at 17:12.

Congratulations to all Apache runners, we can’t wait to see how well you do
this Saturday in Hays for WAC.
